Jardin d’Hiver 2025 at GGTL Laboratories Switzerland

On Saturday, February 22nd, GGTL Laboratories Switzerland had the pleasure of welcoming 32 passionate specialists to our Geneva-based conference room for the latest edition of Jardin d’Hiver, organised by Gemmologie & Francophonie.

This event brought together laboratories, researchers, gem hunters, suppliers, and maisons for a day of insightful lectures and discussions on gemmological topics, including:

  • New colour variations in synthetic forsterite – Emmanuel Fritsch
  • Mining site expeditions in Kenya – Chloé Picard & Adrien Trivier
  • Tortoiseshell craftsmanship in Reunion Island – Lola Martin
  • The making of Leman Pearls – Carla Cotrel
  • A brief history of the wristwatch – Antoine Géraud
  • Surface diffusion treatment in sapphires – Franck Notari
  • Gemstone trade regulations in Sri Lanka – Lauriane Pinsault
  • Royal treasures of Portugal conference insights – Clara Allirol-Mouton
  • Blue opals from Peru – Frédérique Bello
  • Armenian jewel makers in Paris (1923-1947) – Marie Chabrol
  • Discovery of new trapiche garnets in China – Marine Bouvier & Féodor Blumentritt
  • Heat treatment of zircons – Annabelle Herreweghe & Quentin Dartois

The event concluded with a Savoyard fondue at the family restaurant of Candice Caplan, director of GGTL Laboratories Switzerland—an occasion to exchange ideas and strengthen our gemmological community.

A big thank you to Gemmologie & Francophonie and to all speakers and participants for making this event a success. We are already looking forward to Jardin d’Hiver 2026!

💎 Gemmologically Yours,
